Educational seminar: MASTERING THE SKILL OF SILENCE
Silence is not simply about stopping talking or finding a quiet space somewhere in nature. It is a challenging skill that needs to be understood and strengthened.
Why is the developing skill of silence important today?
As a lever for creativity
As a skill so we don't have to talk so much (because we talk to avoid silence)
As a counterpoint to the increasing importance of words and images (the dominance of the audio-video world) in modern society.
As a lever for self-awareness
As a lever to find out how mentally programmed we are
As a lever to increase self-satisfaction
As a lever for confronting one's own identity
As a lever to strengthen visionary leadership as opposed to traditional management
As a lever to shift our thinking from a focus on the past and the future to the present
As a tool to balance our mind and body
As a lever to play the inner post-call, which will also give the young person an identity background that can no longer rely on traditional identity foundations
AT LAST, to face easier the emerging digital era and co-existence better with AI’s development
The Seminar promotes that the phenomenon of silence needs to be addressed today more than ever before in history. This is for the simple reason that modern society functions based on audiovisual images of existence through which we perceive today's reality. The fundamental challenge we face today, therefore, is how to deal with the omnipresence of this audiovisual reality (especially due to the coming mixed era of physical and virtual reality). This is why we need to stimulate a greater state of silence in our lives.
The phenomenon of silence usually consists of achieving physical silence in a given situation and reaching a silent mind. About the latter in particular, all metaphysical spirituality focuses on the pursuit of a silent mind. Many people therefore practice various kinds of teachings and exercises to come closer to a more intense silence, based on which they hope to increase peacefulness and contentment in their professional or personal lives. However, dealing with silence under the umbrella of spirituality or similar trends often seems inadequate. We need a more strategic approach to the wider complexity of silence if we are to use it to enrich our lives.
